Carmel Valley Sharks Fundraiser at Dirty Dogs Shows Team Support

The Del Mar and Carmel Valley Sharks hosted a fundraising dog wash at the Dirty Dogs locations in Carmel Valley and Cardiff-by-the-sea.  People were able to get a clean dog and make a donation to a good organization.  The $20 goes to support team costs and tournament travel. The DMCV Sharks is a non-profit, volunteer organization that has been serving the community since its inception in 1980. The Sharks league offers recreational programs, competitive programs and camps for players of all abilities. The Sharks organization is one of the largest soccer leagues in the country and delivers a quality soccer experience to thousands of kids each year, from ages five to nineteen. Based in suburban Carmel Valley area the club regularly contends for championships in state and regional soccer tournaments in all age groups. The hallmark of all DMCV Sharks teams is superb individual skills.  Development of the individual player is emphasized over team success.

However, winning is a natural consequence of maximizing each individual player’s potential. Players are given equal playing time in league games and are encouraged to pursue their highest individual goals.  The DMCV Sharks operates under the California Youth Soccer Association-South as the parent organization responsible for such matters as uniformity of rules and registration, player insurance, etc. Their goal is to provide the opportunity for each of their players to train and play soccer in an environment where they can develop both individually and as a part of a team. By providing a supportive yet challenging environment, they hope that all players will reach their full potential and play at the highest level possible for their ability. The DMCV Sharks is an organization that truly helps the youth of our community and helps our community become a better place.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Santiago BenitoName: Santiago Benito

School: Canyon Crest Academy

Dream: Santiago hopes to one day become a documentary film director and producer. He also hopes to write and make Hollywood films.

Interests: He enjoys reading almost as much as he enjoys writing; my favorite book is The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Santiago have had an interest in the art of cinema ever since he could remember. From an early age, Santiago has been mesmerized by the beauty of the lines said and the actors on the big screen. While many kids have a hard time trying to figure out what they want to do after they get out of school, Santiago knew right off the bat that he wanted to be involved in the world of cinema somehow. Aside from that, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends. In addition, Santiago is very interested in being involved in things much larger than himself. For example, he is a part of many non-profit organizations whose goals are to help people and communities all over the world (i.e. Japan, Africa, and the Untied States).
