Mission & Purpose are Key for Carmel Valley Chiropractor

Dr. Ronco:  First of all, David, thanks for having me on.  As the Carmel Valley Chiropractor, it’s a pleasure to be here.  I really like doing this stuff for you and for The Carmel Valley Life because it is local community stuff.  Really what this came down to was the essence of my practice is really based on balancing other things in your life, as well.  It’s not just all about one thing, it’s a wellness lifestyle.  As you take that shift towards wellness, a lot of different things start to line up.  What we did with this program is I finally put it all together and realized if this is what we’re always doing, let me create a new template or a framework for you to be able to achieve that.  As a patient coming in, I’m here to help you in more ways than just when you come into the office.

Really what is comes down to now is most people will set goals, they understand about goal-setting or at least they have wishes or desires that they want to achieve, but most people don’t actually write them down.  Then life happens and we start to get caught up doing everything else, and what goes by the wayside but the things that we wanted to do earlier in the year. I want to try and circumvent that, and by the end of the year, be able to show you a template that got you from point A to point B and that’s a better place to be.

David:  Accountability?

Dr. Ronco:  Yeah, basically, and a template.  It’s just a framework for you to take step-by-step toward achieving something, which we all need a little guidance or a refresh from time to time.  What it comes down to, I found this quote that I really liked: ‘Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.’  A lot of us have heard that before; it’s probably been floating around Facebook too, and all the books and some of the things that we read.  Suffice to say that 8 out of 10 people believe that their life lacks overall goals to begin with.  Of the people that do create a goal, only 1 in 5 write them down.  Did you know, David, that if you write down your goals, you increase the likelihood of you achieving them by about 10 times?

David:  That’s great.

Dr. Ronco:  Most people don’t realize your health actually affects everything you do.  With so many people depending on you, it makes sense to invest in your health.  One of my primary things is let’s show you a way to be able to do that.

David:  You guys have different facets or different aspects of the program; it’s all-encompassing.  It reaches beyond your health.  You got stuff you can do at home, at the gym, and different things regarding your health, what you eat and so forth.  Talk a little bit more about those different facets of the program.

Dr. Ronco:  Absolutely.  Thanks for bringing it up.  Really, and I don’t know if you can see this, I’m going to try and put this in front of the camera. This is actually the flyer that’s going out.  That’s the whole flyer, really simple, and it’s . . . I give you a cheat sheet, that basically we’re starting with each individual one is alignment and you can’t really see that detailed right there.

David:  You can see.

Dr. Ronco:  What it is, I’m going to just describe them to you so that it’s not too much clutter in the screen.  Really, our way of helping you take control of your own health with everything going on in healthcare and lack of; you want to be more accountable to yourself.  You want to be able to take care of things and ensure that I’m doing the best that I can.  It comes down to 6 primary areas: Alignment, which from my perspective in chiropractic is the alignment of your nervous system, of your spinal cord which protects the nervous system, body postures, things like that.  We’ll get a little bit more into it in a few minutes. It’s alignment, nutrition, movement; so exercise, belief systems or healthy thinking, really important.

David:  Very important.

Dr. Ronco:  What you think is the direction that your decisions go.  Healthy habits; you have to make sure you’re doing things positive for yourself, healthy for yourself.  If you say that, “I want to be healthy this year and work on my diet,” and you stop for fast food on the way home every day for lunch, there’s a little incongruency there, isn’t there?

Then creating your wellness team.  Your team is really important because no one person can direct all of it.  You need to have other people to rely on and resources to go to.  I’ve jotted down a couple of notes, but let me start with this: The template that I talk about is instead of me saying to you, as a patient coming in, if I said, “David, let’s set up 12 health goals for you this year.  What do you want to achieve?  What can you do?  Go home and do that.”  There’s no direction there, is there?  It’s easy for me to say that, but the follow-through is really, really going to be difficult.  All I did was just create a simple sheet, and again, you can really see how basic this is.  There’s the picture, that’s the alignment on top, and there are two little lines there.  Then there are little boxes for 30, 60, 90-day check-ins.

David:  That’s great because you have, like I mentioned earlier, accountability, but you have a team around you supporting you and walking you through that step-by-step.  You’re really picking really important aspects of everyone’s life.  I think that’s fantastic.  I think you and I will eventually start a video series on each of those aspects and more on the general overall program.

If someone’s interested and if they’re watching, what can they do to find out . . . get more information.  Is there a phone number?  Is there a link?  If there is, we’ll be sure to put that at the bottom of this video in the description section. What is the best way for them to find out more information?

Dr. Ronco:  Really, there’s two ways.  You could just pick up the phone; it’s very simple to call and schedule a no-cost consultation.  You come in, you pick up the flyer, get a little bit of information, and really, we can start with a simple consult sit-down.  If you want to move forward thinking, “There really is something there for me,” then we can set that up through the front desk, really simple.  As for information about this specifically, we’re working on trying to get a separate page added to the website.  In the meantime, to learn a little bit about the office, the practice, and us, just our website is very simple: LivingWellDr.com. LivingWellDr.com, easiest way to reach us.  Phone numbers are 858-481-1422.

David:  We’ll be sure to put that at the bottom of this video. Dr. Steve Ronco, thanks for being on today. We’ll be sure to continue with this because I think this is really good information for our community.  Thanks again for your time.

Dr. Ronco:  Thanks, David.  I appreciate it.  There’s one line I just want to close with . . .

David:  Absolutely.

Dr. Ronco:      . . . that we didn’t finish up.  Really what it comes down to is like you said earlier, from an accountability standpoint; if I gave you all 12 of those goals to try do to, it’s really difficult to achieve, but if we narrowed it down in that framework and said, “This month, we’re just going to focus on this one.  You can do other things, but we’re going to focus here.”  In 30 days, you’ve created a new habit.  Next month you take a different one, so that we’re continually working forward to getting you a little bit at a time.  Once you start to realize, “I’m exercising, I feel better, I’m going to eat better,” now you’ve achieved two goals.  You’re already doing affirmations, so you’re thinking more positive.  Now, before you realize it, instead of being overwhelmed by too many to do, you’re actually doing multiple simultaneously, and by the end of the year, you’ve created your own pattern and change of habits to become the best version of yourself.

That’s really what I wanted to finish with.  That’s what we’re about.  I look forward to doing it with you.  We’re going to have some fun with this this year.

David:  Awesome. I look forward to it.  Thanks again, brother.

Dr. Ronco:  Take care, David. See you.

David:  Have a good one.

Dr. Ronco:  You too.
