“Peri Peri” Carmel Valley Restaurant Review

PERI PERI:  Exciting NEW Cuisine on the East Side of Town

In the Torrey Highlands Shopping Center off Camino del Sur sits a jewel of new restaurant featuring very tasty and carefully prepared South African cuisine.

William Sussman, who has been a restaurateur in San Diego since 1994, brings his native cuisine to Peri Peri where we were treated to a multi course feast with each course more delectable than the former.

Starting with soups, the Carrot & Ginger was tasty and creamy made with coconut milk and completely vegan which many items here are.  The Prawn Bisque was outstanding with a nice kick compliments of their special Peri Peri secret sauce and plentiful tender prawns.

Two favorite starters were the delectable Avocado Ritz stuffed with plump tasty prawns in a lively seafood sauce and the tender and tasty Shortrib over creamy mash.

Saag Curry is also a flavorful vegan and creamy dish with spinach and beans served with basmati rice.

On prior visits, the salmon has been cooked to perfection, and all food is prepared carefully.  Service is consistently attentive and polite.  Portions are generous and pricing is very reasonable for the quality and portion size.

William hits a home run with Peri Peri open for lunch and dinner and most worthy of a few minutes on the 56 for a more quiet meal with plenty of parking!!

Peri Peri is a recently opened Carmel Valley restaurant just east of Del Mar, CA.
