Top Ten List of “Charities Worth Watching”

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | John Van Zante | Smiling-golden-dog-wearing-sunglassesAs the 1980’s song by Timbuk 3 goes….”Things are goin’ great and they’re only gettin better. We’re doin’ alright. Gettin’ good grades. The future’s so bright, we gotta wear shades.”

Less than one year after being awarded a first-ever “Four Star” rating by Charity Navigator, your Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) in Encinitas now appears on Charity Navigator’s nationwide Top Ten List of “Charities Worth Watching.”

RCHS President Jim Silveira says, “We were honored when we received a Four Star rating. Rancho Coastal Humane Society received 98.68 of 100 possible points making it the highest rated animal welfare organization in San Diego County. Being named to their Top Ten List of ‘Charities Worth Watching’ reinforces for our supporters, donors, and customers that RCHS is an organization they can trust.”

According to the Charity Navigator.org“Many of America’s most effective charities are also household names. But some well-known charities are less effective than you’d think, while a number of lesser known charities are truly exceptional. These 10 charities all operate on less than $2 million a year, but they all earn a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. We encourage you to learn more about them.”

Silveira says, “We’re not dancing around and chanting, ‘We’re number seven,’ but we are proud to be on this list. This isn’t just a list from the 445 Animal Welfare organizations rated by Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator rates more than 7,700 non-profit organizations in the United States. Earning a spot on the top ten of Charities Worth Watching says so much about Rancho Coastal Humane Society and our direction for the future.”

Charity Navigator says, “Rancho Coastal Humane Society outperforms most other charities in America. This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Rancho Coastal Humane Society from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
