Two Guys from Italy Shape Carmel Valley Dining Landscape

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Robin Edwards | Villa CapriThe Carmel Valley dining experience is changing quickly and two guys are at the forefront of the new landscape. Many Carmel Valley residents are frequent visitors to Villa Capri in Piazza Carmel – the only truly authentic Italian Restaurant in the area. I was lucky enough to be invited to a private party a few weeks back that was catered by Villa Capri, and was reminded of what a jewel we have in our midst!

When you enter the Cucina Italiana, you will likely be greeted by one or two charming native Italian veteran restaurateurs – Salvatore Ercolano and Antonio Viscito who have a history of success from New York’s Mezza Luna and Scalini in Del Mar to Sal’s newest venture with the grand opening of Seasalt Del Mar this February.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Robin Edwards | Seasalt SignVilla Capri is opened for lunch and dinner serving fresh and creative salads, pizzas and pastas (with gluten free options) along with traditional Italian dishes. Lasagne Bolognese, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Melanzane alla Parmagiana and Salmone alla Guidea are all dishes I have recently tasted and rave about!

Being a lucky gal, I was also invited to the private party opening for Seasalt in Del Mar overlooking the lagoon on Carmel Valley Road. Seasalt is more of a seafood restaurant with a full bar and great sunset views from inside or on the deck.  The crabcakes were especially delish as were all the appetizers sampled at this festive event.
