3 Popular Food Items That Are Making You Fat!

Are any of these food types in your diet? If so, they may be what’s keeping you from losing those extra pounds.  Avoiding these food groups below or cutting them back from your diet will significantly increase your metabolic rate.

1. BREAD OF ALL TYPES

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Bread | Foods That Make You Fat | Melanie MediateBagels, hamburger buns, white bread, french bread, are all made from white flour–essentially wheat flour which has been processed to remove the bran and germ.  The problem there is that those nutrients that were removed contain all of the necessary fiber for and nutrients for proper break down  & digestion in the body.  This alone slows digestion…now-factor in all of the other processed items on the ingredient list of store bought breads.  These items are loaded with sugars and artificial flavorings, chemicals as preservatives, sodium, etc.  Most nutritional labels will contain high fructose as one of the first ingredients listed, meaning it contains more of that ingredient than others that follow.  When processing white bread your body burns very few calories and causes your blood sugar levels to rise which causes more cravings.

What About Wheat?  While wheat bread is no doubt a better choice than white, the problem is that many of the popular brands still contain all the processed ingredients white bread does, including the refined sugars.  So you really are better off going without breads and any processed grains (like white rice) as often as you can.  Take white bread, bagels, and yes– even wheat breads out of your diet & you’ll almost immediately start dropping pounds.  Keeping these out of your diet long term will significantly reduce belly fat.

2. REFINED SUGAR

Pay attention to what your eating and drinking.  Read labels and notice the sugar content.  Sodas – especially diet sodas – are extremely high in sugar.  Not just in candy and sweets anymore – refined sugars can be found in nearly anything processed or boxed: frozen dinners, crackers, breads, and even store bought sauces like marinara of all things are all high in refined sugar.

3. “DIET” FOODS

“Diet” foods and drinks cut calories by either replacing sugar with fake sugar (artificial sweeteners), or replacing fat with artificial sweeteners and other laboratory-engineered, edible, food-like substances – that aren’t food, and the body knows it.  These are making you fat!

Simply put– diet or low fat anything is GOOD for marketing and BAD for your health!  If you are going to have a soda, skip the diet and have a regular!  If you drink soda every day, learn to cut back on it, not switch it out for another type.
