Broadening Your Cultural Horizons

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Darcie Czajkowski | ArtWalk LogoHome to Balboa Park, the largest urban cultural park in North America with fifteen museums and the Old Globe Theatre, San Diego abounds with art in many shapes and forms around the city.  One such event is ArtWalk San Diego @ NTC Liberty Station, which takes place on August 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Formerly known as ArtWalk on the Bay, ArtWalk celebrates its eighth year at a new location, Ingram Plaza at Liberty Station.  Once San Diego’s Naval Training Center, Liberty Station is now a cultural hub for artists to explore and display their crafts with a plethora of galleries and museums in the area.

ArtWalk will feature more than one hundred artists, a dozen musical performers, delicious food, and also activities to entertain children at KidsWalk.  Artwork will be displayed outside which enable attendees to view the artwork in natural light.  Since Liberty Station juts up against the bay, there is no better backdrop for these artists to showcase their work.  Attendees will also be able to interact with many of the artists personally.

The best part of this event is that it is entirely free, including parking.  It is a great way to enjoy the San Diego sunshine with groups of friends, families with children of all ages, or an afternoon date.

If you are an artist who would like to participate in this event, go to ArtWalk to register.

While you are in the area, stop by Stone Brewing’s newest location in Liberty Station.  Stone is spread out over 23,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor seating and boasts a bocce ball court and a beautiful garden.  Stone offers forty types of beer on tap and more than one hundred craft beers.

Summer in San Diego is well underway, so don’t miss this opportunity to explore another corner of America’s Finest City.
