Carmel Valley residents, Sean Mulcahy and Kevin Hare, recently opened the doors of their strength and conditioning gym (CrossFit OTW), to the community of Carmel Valley. By now, you’ve probably heard the buzz about the fitness program dedicated to improving the lives of everyone from elite athletes and Special Forces soldiers to everyday men and women who are looking to get in shape.
Sean and Kevin each bring unique athletic and coaching experiences – most recently from the Washington, DC, metro area where they founded and managed a high school CrossFit affiliate, CrossFit Gonzaga. The two also trained and coached together at CrossFit Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia, under owner and CrossFit Games competitor, Jerry Hill. Sean found CrossFit while serving as a Marine Corps officer in Barstow, California in 2004. He quickly went on to become certified by the founder of CrossFit, Greg Glassman, and his original team of trainers who are now well known throughout the community. In addition to his military experience, Sean was a division I lacrosse athlete at the United States Naval Academy and brings a strong leadership presence to CrossFit OTW. Kevin, who was a college track athlete, brings 10 years of experience as a high school teacher and coach, as well as numerous strength and conditioning certifications. Together, the two owners and head coaches have formed a winning team that makes CrossFit OTW a special place to work out. Sean and Kevin say that CrossFit OTW is a “Third Place” – your home away from home and work, where a strong family supports your healthy lifestyle.
CrossFit OTW is located at 11211 Sorrento Valley Road, Suite D, at the intersection of the I-5 and I-805. With convenient freeway access, they provide you with the opportunity and resources to achieve your health and fitness goals with a quick stop on your way to or from work each day. Modeled after their friends at CrossFit Old Town, CrossFit OTW (Old Town West) offers a 45 minute class structure to get you in and out of the gym and back to the business of life. In addition, it offers proven programming to get you strong and conditioned, and an atmosphere and community that give you a reason to come back every day. The owners and head coaches welcome all comers – from the seasoned CrossFit veteran to the man or woman looking to get in shape.
CrossFit OTW’s grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, August 31st, with workout classes at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and a cookout at 12:00 p.m. It’s going to be a great opportunity to meet the coaches, get an introduction to CrossFit, and try a workout.
