Two New World Reading Records Helped Set By FasTracKids

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Kristin Rude | Children Listening to a StoryMillions of readers around the world joined together on October 3rd to celebrate Jumpstart’s Read for the Record by reading Otis and supporting Jumpstart’s mission to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.  The annual event was a huge success for readers everywhere, with fun new ways to celebrate this year like the Google Hangout On Air with Otis author Loren Long and the Otis Book Parade of celebration photos.  Together we set two new World Reading Records: 2,465,860 people read for the record in schools, community gatherings, and at home; including more than 400,000 digital reads at We Give Books, a landmark number!

On behalf of FasTracKids, we would like to thank all the participants in this year’s Read for the Record event.

These participation results would not be possible without dedication to this worthy cause!  This year, FasTracKids had the most centers and child participants to date!  Over 110 centers and schools held events for 22,877 children to read Otis by Loren Long.  Let’s try to have even more children read for the record next year!
