Our family created and distributed The Beach Break News, a local news magazine showcasing the coastal communities in north county san diego. We felt a website would be a fun way to continue spreading the word on what’s happening around our town and so Coastal Family Living was created. We share thoughts on local restaurants, events, favorite boutiques, raising children, and all things that inspire us like the many local families that have a great story that should be shared. We also love photography and love to share moments captured through a lens, whether it’s from our lens or yours. We are a family of five and we love our life!
My husband Doug and I have lived in Carmel Valley for 11 years. We’ve been married for 12 and are loving it! We have two sons, ages 3 and 7. My hobbies are surfing (when I get to), scrap booking, scuba diving and hiking. I quit my job to be a stay at home mom at the end of 2004 and it was the best decision I ever made. Though I do sometimes miss the life of a scientist, I have plenty of opportunities at home to share science with my kids.
Elizabeth Ander Hughes serves on the North Shore Girls Softball League board as Fall Ball Coordinator and Social Media Director. She also has her own food blog called Virtually Homemade and is an experienced writer. Liz is a Carmel Valley San Diego community resident and mom to two wonderful kids and a wife to a loving husband. She will be working on behalf of North Shore Girls Softball League to feature information about youth athletics and also inform the community about their softball events and the North Shore Girls Softball League in general. We are excited to have both Liz and NSGSL as part of our growing “Sports” section.

When Kristin is not working, motherhood keeps her plenty busy with her 2 children, Connor, age 3 & Katherine, age 2. She looks forward to having her own children benefit from the FasTracKids program. Spending time with her family, golfing, traveling, and continuously learning are among her favorite activities.
Sharry Zubrod is a Carmel Valley resident, local business owner and a former elementary school teacher. She also chairs a committee in the Junior League of San Diego, and is an active member of the PTA board at Sycamore Ridge Elementary. She is the founder of Sparkle Farms, a local clothing company that specializes in bloomers shorts for active girls to wear under their skirts and dresses. We are all excited to have Sharry on the team and look forward to hearing about her experiences running a business, taking care of a family and volunteering for local organizations.
