Rockademy – Cultivate Your Inner Rockstar

The Rockademy is a music school located in Solana Beach but what sets them apart from most music schools is their unique approach to teaching.  The Rockademy was founded in December of 2010.  James Couzens, drum instructor, vocalist and professional musician, began working with the bands that his drum students played in.  Due to the success, James came up with the idea for The Rockademy, a comprehensive approach to band organization and development.  The mission is simple, to facilitate a structured, fun and practical approach to develop people’s musical goals to their fullest potential.  The Rockademy offers lessons in individual Instrument Lessons, artist development, band development, song writing, demo production and performance.  The instructors at the Rockademy are professional musicians that provide a practical and fun approach to playing music.  At the Rockademy, they are committed to their students success every step of the way.  At the Rockademy they draw on their professional experience to really develop their students’ “inner rock star”.  If you have a band and you really want to take yourselves to the next level, The Rockademy is the perfect place, they offer lessons to groups with that desire, or if you want to find a band they can also help.  Many students from Carmel Valley and Del Mar attend the school for its many programs and quality instructors.  Students can also learn song writing or recording; they take students through the basics of writing songs.  Students learn about song structure, melody and writing lyrics with acclaimed producers and songwriters.  If a student would like to be mentored in stage performance this is the best place to do so, they coach their students in stage presence, showmanship, staging, loading/unloading and setting up gear, song to song transition, handling unforeseen difficulties, and having fun on stage and really pumping up a crowd.  The Rockademy also offers summer rock camps for musicians of all ages and skill level.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Santiago Benito | Junior Creative DirectorName: Santiago Benito

School: Canyon Crest Academy

Dream: Santiago hopes to one day become a documentary film director and producer.  He also hopes to write and make Hollywood films.

Interests:  He enjoys reading almost as much as he enjoys writing; my favorite book is The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.  Santiago have had an interest in the art of cinema ever since he could remember.  From an early age, Santiago has been mesmerized by the beauty of the lines said and the actors on the big screen.  While many kids have a hard time trying to figure out what they want to do after they get out of school, Santiago knew right off the bat that he wanted to be involved in the world of cinema somehow.  Aside from that, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends.  In addition, Santiago is very interested in being involved in things much larger than himself.  For example, he is a part of many non-profit organizations whose goals are to help people and communities all over the world (i.e. Japan, Africa, and the Untied States).

Journey: He was born in San Diego on August 14, 1998 and has had a wonderful life growing up in the Carmel Valley area.
