Summer Has Officially Begun! Head to the San Diego Fair!

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Darcie Cjazkowski | San Diego FairIt’s that time of year again!  The San Diego Fair has already started and runs daily through July 4.  Note that the fair is closed Mondays, except for July 1.  Convenient for Carmel Valley residents, this event is located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

The theme of the fair this year is “Game on!” which will underscore “classic and nostalgic games and show how these have evolved over the years.”  Such games include board games and pinball and how these types of games have transformed with the advancements in technology.

The fair website offers a fantastic deal all wrapped up in one neat pass called “The Best Pass Ever.”  For $24, you get access to all twenty-four days of the fair, including admission to all concerts, games, festivals, food, and all other fun-filled activities that the fair has to offer.  The pass is also available for purchase at participating Albertons/Sav-on locations.

A fun event that would be great for Father’s Day celebrations on June 16 is the Big Bite Bacon Fest.  This fest will be the first of its kind nationwide and involves a showcase of unlimited bacon samples from over thirty-five of the best chefs and restaurants in San Diego.  You can also quest your inevitable thirst with unlimited samples of over fifty craft beers from San Diego’s premiere breweries.  Tickets start as low as $27 and max out at $80.  Tickets can be purchased on the fair website.

Also check out the website for specifics on the variety of concerts held at the fairgrounds.  Most of the concerts are free with purchase of Fair admission.

Many more activities are detailed on the Fair website.  Cheers to the start of summer!
