Taste of Cardiff Served Up a Culinary Experience to Remember

Taste of Cardiff

On Thursday May 8th Cardiff 101 Main Street hosted the 5th annual Taste of Cardiff. This event included all local food vendors, drinks, and live music. Guests arrived at 5pm to receive their ticket and purchase alcohol tickets. Guests were able to immerse themselves in the flourishing culinary vibe of Cardiff, and enjoyed an evening of strolling through the beautiful coastal community while savoring the very best of Cardiff’s delectable cuisine. Downtown Cardiff has over 20 unique eateries and many of these restaurants are well known throughout San Diego County for their excellent food. Ticket holders got to stroll from restaurant to restaurant for a small bite that captures the unique taste of their cuisine. The restaurants began sampling food at 5pm and served those with tickets until 8pm, or until they ran out of food. The three-hour window allows you to take your time as you walk throughout downtown Cardiff and provides opportunities to stop along the way to enjoy the music or to have a drink. Cardiff 101 Main Street is a non-profit community organization governed by local volunteers with the purpose of maintaining the unique qualities and beauty of the area, stimulating a thriving local economy and engaging the community in fun along the 101 corridor in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. Cardiff-by-the-Sea is a classic Southern California beach town that boasts a moderate climate, breathtaking views, two miles of Pacific coastline, a 900-acre ecological reserve, world-class surfing and lovely residents who take pride in their Encinitas community.  Locals and tourists alike enjoy this charming, beautiful, friendly beach town with quaint shops, delicious cuisine, an arts community, yoga studios, ocean sports, parks, a walkable downtown area complete with a linear organic community park and plenty of biking opportunities.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Santiago BenitoName: Santiago Benito

School: Canyon Crest Academy

Dream: Santiago hopes to one day become a documentary film director and producer. He also hopes to write and make Hollywood films.

Interests: He enjoys reading almost as much as he enjoys writing; my favorite book is The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Santiago have had an interest in the art of cinema ever since he could remember. From an early age, Santiago has been mesmerized by the beauty of the lines said and the actors on the big screen. While many kids have a hard time trying to figure out what they want to do after they get out of school, Santiago knew right off the bat that he wanted to be involved in the world of cinema somehow. Aside from that, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends. In addition, Santiago is very interested in being involved in things much larger than himself. For example, he is a part of many non-profit organizations whose goals are to help people and communities all over the world (i.e. Japan, Africa, and the Untied States).
