Torrey Pines High School Freshman Finds Passion in Cinematography

Tyler was born on July 30th 1999.  He currently goes to Torrey Pines High School, as a freshman, although next year he is switching to Canyon Crest Academy for their incredible film program called Conservatory.  He developed a passion for film making at a very young age but only recently started making film a priority in his life.  His good childhood friend Santiago Benito was working on a Sage Canyon Park video for The Carmel Valley Life and needed some help so he asked Tyler to film and edit because he was busy with another project.  David saw the video Tyler made and loved it and then later asked Tyler to become part of the CVL film crew.  Since then Tyler has made multiple videos and written various articles.  Tyler now wants to pursue a career in cinematography more than he ever did as a child.

Tyler mostly uses a Canon T2i but when he gets the chance he uses David’s Canon 5D Mark III with a 50mm lens or a 16-35mm wide angle lens. Tyler loves working with The Carmel valley Life and hopes to be a part of their film crew for many more years to come.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Santiago BenitoName: Santiago Benito

School: Canyon Crest Academy

Dream: Santiago hopes to one day become a documentary film director and producer. He also hopes to write and make Hollywood films.

Interests: He enjoys reading almost as much as he enjoys writing; my favorite book is The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Santiago have had an interest in the art of cinema ever since he could remember. From an early age, Santiago has been mesmerized by the beauty of the lines said and the actors on the big screen. While many kids have a hard time trying to figure out what they want to do after they get out of school, Santiago knew right off the bat that he wanted to be involved in the world of cinema somehow. Aside from that, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends. In addition, Santiago is very interested in being involved in things much larger than himself. For example, he is a part of many non-profit organizations whose goals are to help people and communities all over the world (i.e. Japan, Africa, and the Untied States).
