Zephyr Uses Virtual Reality to Bring Its Luxury Condos to Life

Technology Lets Prospective Buyers “Tour” The Park, Bankers Hill, before It’s Complete

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Jenna Brossman | The Park PenthouseThe Park, Bankers Hill, is still under construction with the completion scheduled for 2017, yet prospective buyers can take 3D tours of the luxury project thanks to a new virtual reality experience launched by the San Diego-based real estate development and investment company, Zephyr.

A growing trend in the technology industry, the virtual reality market is expected to explode over the next 10 years, with Goldman Sachs research projecting VR will be an $80 billion industry by 2025, the size of today’s PC market.

And while VR is being used in multiple applications, Zephyr is one of the first real estate companies in San Diego to utilize the technology to let buyers “tour” units and preview amenities and views before the project is even complete. Donning a VR headset, which fits overs users’ eyes and displays 3D images, buyers can turn their heads and look up and down to see comprehensive views of the property.

“We wanted buyers to be able to experience what life would be like living at The Park,” said Zephyr Co-CEO Brad Termini. “With VR it’s possible. Buyers have a 360-degree view of the homes, including the downstairs and upstairs, can see the amenities and more. It helps take the guessing out of buying a home that is under construction.”

“We envision endless possibilities with this technology,” says Termini. “Someday, we’ll be able to design homes on the spot, change out features and finishes, add a room, etc. – all in real time while buyers ‘stand’ in the homes and provide feedback.”

Directly across the street from Balboa Park in Bankers Hill, The Park is a 14-story, 60-unit residential building with two retail spaces, and buyers can take tours of the penthouse units, townhomes, tower residences and amenities that include a private pool with spa, state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga studio, clubroom and terrace with fire pits.

Prospective buyers can try The Park’s virtual reality experience at The Discovery Center, which is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, 12 to 5 p.m. or by appointment, and is located at 3104 4th Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.
